The Lawyers Association has long been recognized in the community as the association for trial attorneys. The membership includes attorneys from both sides of the Bar and all members of the local, federal and state judiciaries.

The Lawyers Association of St. Louis was founded in 1934 in response to a need for a nonpolitical association of lawyers and judges for the purpose of promoting and improving the legal profession and judicial system.

Among the may causes the Lawyers Association has assumed in its rich history was taking
the lead in the struggle against racism by petitioning the Supreme Court of the State of Missouri in 1943 to establish the integrated Missouri Bar.
